Taking place in 1920 New York, Chrno Crusade is a story about a girl named Rosette Christopher, her close friend Chrno, and their search for Rosette's lost brother Joshua. Seems simple enough, right? Well, it would be if Rosette wasn't a nun in a religious military organization, Chrno wasn't a demon whose horns were removed by Aion (another demon) and given to Joshua, causing the boy to go somewhat insane.
A bit complicated, no? Still, even with such a tragic separation from her beloved brother, Rosette still pushes forward. She is not alone in her journey, however... Along with Chrno, Rosette is soon accompanied by Azmaria Hendric and later by Satella Harvenheit, both having their own unique abilities and reasons for joining with Rosette and Chrno on their journey.
Chrno Crusade is available in various formats. It was originally published monthly in Comic Dragon and later in Dragon Age (the same magazines that published such series as Slayers, Full Metal Panic! and Rune Soldier Louie) and is written by Moriyama Daisuke. The series began publication in 1998 and ended in June of 2004 with eight volumes. There is also an anime series that consists of 24 episodes, a series of drama CDs and a novel.
